Creating an image
So I was thinking about creating different images when first sitting down at the table. Aba and TC have repeated the old adage, "that you can't remake a first impression" (or whatever it is). So if it takes a long time for Villain's to adjust to images, here are my takes.
DONKEY: Aba showed how stacking off light can give u a donkey image but I wondered if there were easier ways to do this. - Post your blinds when it's not your turn - limp on the button - make a loose 3-bet and show it - limp every hand your first round - miniraise utg TIGHT WAD - after u sit, fold every hand for 2 rounds but don't auto-fold, wait a few seconds so all the other players notice that you're folding. - make a tight fold from the blinds pf and show it (do we even have this option on most sites?) - show your first winning hand if it's a big one whatever...not much to this post just throwing it out there. |

Re: Creating an image
Obviously, it only matters if you a playing people that are paying attention to more than their cards, but it can be very effective. I have notes on players making moves like this that I've had to change because I realized what they were doing.
Donkey: Sometimes I'll call an all in from a short stack with trash like 82o. If I win, people are instantly irritated and if I lose I look like easy money. And i can imagine the typing in the note box "calls all in w/ 82o...LAP calling station" |

Re: Creating an image
Table image doesn't have a lot of impact at ssnl where you have tons of tables to choose from. This is mainly a high stakes concept where you play vs the same guys over and over again and don't have many tables to select from.

Re: Creating an image
I used to think that...but the more LAG you play, the more you see people reacting to your image (albeit poorly).
I dunno, I guess doing really donkish things would temporarily throw off a reg. But once he sees proper bet sizing, correctly playing draws, or other things good players do that poor players don't, his opinion is going to change pretty fast. Plus, on sites like FT with datamining capabilities, if I see a 20/17/3 with 2000 hands start doing weird stuff like that, I'm either gonna think: 1) His account is being used by someone else. 2) He's being tricksy At the bare minmimum I'll be suspicious...I'm not going to start stacking off with bottom pair or anything. It's important to remember you make your money off of the fish NOT the regs. |
