I've yet to go on a Safari, take some time and do some research. Perhaps we'll be fortunate and one will chime in with a trip report.

If you want to do a music fest in New Orleans, Jazz Fest is the only real choice. Last weekend in April and first weekend in May.

By the way....the bulk of oktoberfest is in September. Only a few days in October.

New Orleans Jazz Fest kind of sucks at the fairgrounds imo.
Although the weather really wasn't that great when we went and since some of the speakers weren't working we were left even more disappointed.

The food at the jazz-fest that draws some raves wasn't that worthwhile either.

Enjoyed hitting up some of the smaller places in New Orleans during the evening though and always love New Orleans in general.

Have done Mardi Gras in New Orleans several times and that's always fun.
Would very much like to check out Carnival in Rio.

For 12 different trips in 12 months I might throw in a couple of slightly more obscure ones in there such as swinging up to Alaska or Sweden during the best Northern Lights times which I think might be Dec/Jan.
I've been to Alaska at I think it was in Feb but the lights were only so-so when I was there.

Would have to think more on this to come up with 12.

My mom climbed Mount Kilimanjaro a few years back. I'm sure she'll chime in shortly since I posted in this thread.

Well, since you asked!! Yes, I did a two week Africa trip with one week devoted to the Kili climb and one week devoted to an African safari. FWIW I think every person should spend a day at Ngorogora Crater in Tanzania in their lifetime!! ok, quick trip report. . .

Kili Climb -- I was in the top 3 in shape of our group of 14 -- but I got sick as a DOG puking, etc. on summit day due to altitude sickness. BUT I'm a tightass and it was an expensive trip so I got my sorry butt to the top for photos. Climb down is every bit as hard as the climb up~!! Yikes.

Then on to the safari ---- OMFG, once in a lifetime experience. We were watching these wildebeasts by this pond and this one dumb [censored] was off on his own -- then we noticed the friggin lions in the brush ----- yep, we watched a kill right in front of us!! Some people would say gross but I'm telling you when you are seeing it you are awestruck!!

Then the cap of the trip was spending an afternoon with the Masaii ---- WOW . . .

Seriously I see some of the $$$ you poker players make and you should definitely put a safari trip on your life list of to-dos!!!!

Hope this wasn't tl/dr!!!

QFT although it's spelled "ngorongoro" (don't mean to be a nit, just makes it easier to look up).

I did a 2 week safari with my family, spending 2 or 3 days at a time in various very nice resorts and spent every day driving around for 4 or 5 hours with our tour guide looking for animals.

It was really an unbelievable experience and we got really lucky to see cheetahs and lions (which are rare to find) as well as every animal you would think of (elephants, gorillas, zebras, wildebeests, etc.) Anyway, it really was an amazing experience that I think everybody who has the time and money to enjoy should do at some point in time. PM me for details/tips if you're interested in going on safari.
