Re: The Play Chip Challenge
[ QUOTE ]
Since the current exchange rate is $10 for $1,000,000 in play chips, what makes the play money all that different from real money? Every $100,000 in play money is $1 in real money. So the play money sit n go's that are $80,000 buy-in are actually like $.80 sit n go's. Believe it or not, if you play well at this level it is still +EV. 99% of the people playing play money play like donkeys and you just have to take advantage. Sure it's starting small, but is there that big a difference between a $80,000 play chip sit n go and a $1 real money sit n go? Not really. [/ QUOTE ] if this was about $1 sngs no one would care either |

WHY WOULD PEOPLE BUY PLAY MONEY?????????????? [/ QUOTE ] They run it up and resell it. I got my start on Stars this way, back when the exchange rate was about $20/mill and the 40k or fold games were actually worth 3-tabling. |

[ QUOTE ] WHY WOULD PEOPLE BUY PLAY MONEY?????????????? [/ QUOTE ] They run it up and resell it. [/ QUOTE ] Ultimately someone is buying play chips just to have play chips. Not everyone can "run it up and resell it", so why would anyone ever buy play chips? |

Re: The Play Chip Challenge
[ QUOTE ]
so why would anyone ever buy play chips? [/ QUOTE ] Because even play chips have value. Somewhat similarly, items from games like World of Warcraft sell for real money. People gain satisfaction out of having 10million play chips, and people gain satisfaction from having pretty armour in the game. All "things" have value of some sort. Traditionally, western capitalist society expresses value in the form of money, primarily since it is easier to exchange money than Uluru Sea Shells, for example. |

WHY WOULD PEOPLE BUY PLAY MONEY?????????????? [/ QUOTE ] Because all the play money billionaires (and trillionaires) like to play the high stakes [play money] games together. It is like their little club. |
