Maxamizing value with pair + SFD (NL200)
So I have a huge hand that is basically going to be a favorite vs. just about any range. I was planning on c/r before the cbet and small raise. Now basically any line I take looks really really strong. Just 3bet to like $65 or something? Call? If you like call then what do you do on heart turns? 8 or 10? blanks?

Reraise to ~$80, call shove. It's pretty unlikely that anyone will flat the $80, so I wouldn't worry too much about turn play. Btw, I might donk it $15 on this flop and shove over a raise. (I play sets like this sometimes as well).

I shove here. The reason is, if someone calls your raise, you're in a stupid spot on a blank turn. Get it in.

If I 3bet to anything then CO is basically only calling with sets anyways given my c/3bet line. He will usually shove with his sets so that takes care of itself. I guess I'm asking why it matters and not arguing that shoving is necessarily worse, but essentially the same. |

I have no information on co, so I don't know what he'll cal with. All I'm saying is that if we get called on the flop, period, we have to put money is as something like a 35% favorite w/o any FE instead of something like a 50%+ favorite with FE, so get it all in now.

[/ QUOTE ] The only problem I have with this is that an attentive player will see the 25-to-200 bet as a sign of a hand that wants as much FE as possible. If you make a smaller raise, you're still saying, "Hey, I'm committed, and I'm shoving the turn" while also making it easier to rep 88/99 here. I don't really mind him calling $110 and forcing me to bet $90 on a brick turn...by calling the flop, he and I both know that we'll be AI soon. |
