suggestions for promotions
Play at my local room is way down due to a new casino opening and poker downturn in general. Its a 8 table room. 5-7 tables going during peak hours, 2-4 tables weekdays. They reserve 20% of the BBjackpot for promotions, which has not been spent. I guesstimate they have 20- 40K for player promotions.Next month is the Holidays and it might kill the room if action doesn't improve. They are truely a great bunch of people working there, and I can just see the situation is getting to them. With the number of players and a about promotion roll known, could you guys help with some good promotions that might help our room.
Thanks, peetar |

Re: suggestions for promotions
-for a whole week "splash the pot" on some of the games.... throw in an extra hundred or w/e before the hands are dealt, itll make random hands even more interesting
-give away tshirts and other little things for "special hands" that arent even really special... ex: ace-high flushes and better... or have a "beaten aces" mini jackpot, where if your pocket aces get beaten you win a small prize hope any of this helps |

Monday Night Football squares (free squares for people who have a certain amount of hours) [/ QUOTE ] Not sure where OP is located, but would be illegal in any state other than Nevada. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think that's true, because they have to buy something (time at the poker table) in order to get the squares. This is why sweepstakes always have a "no purchase necessary" way to enter; even requiring the purchase of an unrelated product makes it illegal gambling. In order not to run afoul of that, the casino would have to offer a way to get the squares for free, without playing any poker. |

I've seen this done in multiple casinos/cardrooms outside of Nevada to bring people in the room. |

Either you're paying rake or you're paying time. What are the names of the casinos/cardrooms where this is done? |

I'm not going to divulge the casino/cardroom names in case it is illegal. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the actual legality of the issue, but I have seen it done in a casino and a cardroom. In regards to you "buying" something there are obviously ways around it, even if it is illegal. Whether it be, random drawing or just giving everyone who is in the room a square. |
