Re: NYC Poker Robbery and Shooting
It's horrible whoever it is, but can anyone add some clarifying details? We play with so many people. One Frank I know is a sweet guy, soft spoken, very thin, super tight player. Same guy?

[ QUOTE ]
What a tragedy. It could have been any of us- that is indeed a scary thought. It's also an eye-opener to the realities of the world we live in. It's disgusting what some people are willing to do for money. I must say, I feel like I have had a false sense of security over the past years, playing in these NYC clubs. I don't think i am going to continue playing after this incident, as its just not worth the risk (for me anyway). Atlantic city will just have to do. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed, the incident is both sad and scary. It's shocking what people would do for only a couple of thousand dollars. The only positive that can come out of this is a serious push towards legalization, which would surely quell such occurrences. |

I'm not going to relax. I find it offensive that someone wants to know who this guy is because he may have played a game with him one night and he's curious?? He clearly doesn't know ANYBODY from this club, reading comprehension 101 for you jjshabado. I do know people from this club and find it even more offensive that you don't view his post as ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ] Shut up and quit being such a douche bag. The guy asked a question and was told it was inappropriate. No need to go on a stupid rant like you are all high and mighty. |

Re: NYC Poker Robbery and Shooting
[ QUOTE ]
Difficult news for anyone that's ever played poker in NYC. I can't say I know the victim but my thoughts are with his friends and family today. Can anyone give a loose description of the physical security? Does the space have the two secure door setup on the 7th floor? Since the news gave the address, I presume this is an acceptable topic. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Just don't discuss details not in the articles because it might hurt other businesses/players by accident. [/ QUOTE ] We can't discuss such thing in threads, PM me if you want detaiils. |

Re: NYC Poker Robbery and Shooting
He was a real nice guy and we played together on many occasions. Needless to say my NYC poker will now be limited by private games. It's one thing to be there for a raid. There are enough games around to have fun in a safe, friendly environment. Hopefully the cops will catch these guys.

Re: NYC Poker Robbery and Shooting
The only thing I can say is I hope that this will now make the federal and state governments(all states that haven't legalized poker) take a long look at legalizing cardrooms for the safety of everyone who plays in underground cardrooms. Is there anyway we (we being the PPA) can begin to lobby states such as NY to legalize cardrooms? This is just becoming absolutely ludicrous.
