Raise of fold preflop?
Stars $4/180, 38 left. I guess this is more of a "what would you do against unknowns here?". 3rd hand on this new table (note UTG+1's stack):
PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t300 with t25 antes (9 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com UTG (t4845) UTG+1 (t1135) MP1 (t2630) MP2 (t6710) MP3 (t10877) Hero (t10125) Button (t4535) SB (t20630) BB (t6395) Preflop: Hero is in CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t300, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls t300, Hero ??? |

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
With 2 callers in front, I fold. If folded to me I would raise.

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
"UTG+1 calls t300" of 1135... why would you ever raise here?
I might concider limping and calling his shove with an ace or FD. |

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
with an M of 15 your not in bad shape & you should be looking to make plays that will increase your stack, in this case A 8 suited is decent but not strong enough with 2 callers and 3 to act.
Limping and seeing a cheap flop wouldn't kill you but that 300 hundred will buy you 12 more anti's and possibly a better hand or a stronger stealing situation. Raising to 900(3 x the bb) might isolate the short stack but if one person calls it before the it hits the small stack everyones pot odds will become more attractive and your chances of taking it down would be cut down drastically. Pushing all in would drive out most of your opponents but would you really wanna take that kinda gamble/risk with just A 8 suited when you easily find more profitable situations to play in later on. Heads up or at a table with 3 or 4 people A8 would be strong enough but not here... Best advice, only play big pots with big hands (Juanda) PS don't forget the small blind has you covered 2 to 1 |

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
Yeah, probably a fold. Could be argued to limp for flush possibilities, but with an UTG+1 limp for 1/4th his stack, he's probably trying to slowplay a monster and get others into the pot with things such as Ace rag suited, hoping you'll flop a flush draw or something semi-decent and get your chips into the middle and crush you.

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
im comfortable calling or folding here, depends if SB has been pushing the table around a bit. if the blinds are generally passive, then id call. Dont think sits massively -EV

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
this is a good spot to raise limpers the short stack limping with 4bbs is suspect enough to make this a fold.

Re: Raise of fold preflop?
the utg may have a drawing type hand and wants alot of players. i cant see why you would limp a monster shove and play hu. so i can see calling or raising to iso.id call
