[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Has anyone here actually attended Lebowski fest? Is it worth going? [/ QUOTE ] I went to the one in Austin with my wife and brother and we had an absolute blast. My brother dressed as the Man in the Black Pajamas and my wife and I were Eyeball to Eyeball. It was at a bowling alley and pretty much everyone there was dressed up and drunk off of white Russians. We all bowled drunk and the entire place was just a throng of TBL quotes. OVER THE LINE! Smokey, you're entering a world of pain. The guy who won the costume contest was dressed in a red bodysuit with giant scissors, like the nihilists in the dream sequence. [/ QUOTE ] FWIW...I'm the brother, and it was like being part of some weird brotherhood, like we're the Freemasons, only without secrets and more yelling of obscenities and bowling. Of course...we're not Freemasons...we're Achievers, and proud we are of all of them. |

I always amazed how two people can watch the same thing and have such different opinions. I looked at the reviews for TBL on IMDB. Depending on the person, it's either the greatest movie ever or a total piece of garbage.
Me, I like quirky movies with oddball characters. So, this film was right up my alley. Plus, John Goodman is an unbelievable character actor, IMO, one of the best ever. Check out the myspace page for one of my screenplays. See what y'all think. Reinvented |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Donny throws a strike every time but his last. [/ QUOTE ] Not only that, every throw (by anyone) in the movie is a strike except for the one right before Donny dies. [/ QUOTE ] I watched the movie again last night and noticed that this is false. I have been horribly misled by the internet. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, if you count the fat black guy nailing the split during the opening credits. |

When I'm not around TBL fans, here are the aphorisms/phrases I use anyway: "This is not Nam, there are rules" [/ QUOTE ] This, along with "Has the whole world gone CRAZY? Doesn't anybody give a [censored] about the RULES anymore?" gets trotted out like 5 times whenever I play any kind of game with my friends. |

I love the part where Walter brings the dog to the bowling alley, just before the classic "OVER THE LINE!" scene.
