folds worse hands stacks off to better ones.. [/ QUOTE ] This isn't necessarily true. OP will get called by 88-JJ trying to pick off his "obvious" AK some of the time. |

In these tourneys, the early position 5BB often suggests pp 99..JJ which you WANT calling since your opponent needs his set to bet you. Against most opps, I raise to somewhere in the 250 to 400 range depending on type of opponent. The upper end of the range is my preference for habitually "cally" donkeys. By taking this line rather than the shove, you are still mostly committing to QQ but it leaves you an option to change you mind if you get say 2 flat calls from cally donkeys and flop comes down like AK3. It also allows opponents to commit to weaker hands together with you whereas the shove gets called by mostly JJ..AA, AK, & severe donkeys with crap like weaker Ax (for which seeing the flop and re-evaluating is better). |

folds worse hands stacks off to better ones.. [/ QUOTE ] This is VERY inaccurate at the $27s. Even so shoving isn't the best line for you to take unless the villain will often call off his stack with somewhat marginal hands. You can get much more value by making a standard raise. |
