Boom goes the Driver Head
So I was at the range today hitting a small bucket of balls. On the very last ball, with my driver, I hit the ball about 200 yds (I think) and the clubhead flew off the shaft and went about 85 yds. The clubhead didn't come loose off the shaft, the thin part of the driver right down near the shaft exploded, so I presume the clubhead is f'd.
It is a KZG Gemini 460 driverhead and some Fujikama shaft. Anyone have any experience with something like this? No info on the website, but do these things usually only have a 1yr warranty? I've never tried to return things for golf but I'd say 50/50 percent of the times companies replace stuff out of good will. |

Graphite shaft? Shouldn't happen.
I'd take it back to where I bought it and explain what happened. They might have an idea as to recourse. Buzz |

[/ QUOTE ] It's a graphite shaft, but I'm pretty sure the break was at the stem of the clubshaft. (I guess the shaft is still good ) KZG is all custom fit and I got it from someone my instructor sent me to, and I'm pretty sure he's down in Florida already for the winter but that's good to try and track down first. I think it was a 12 or 12.5 degree, and I've increased my swing speed enough I probably should have gotten a new driver/shaft anyway. And I never really liked it that much. |

Re: Boom goes the Driver Head
/thread hijack/
this reminds me of a tournament where i was playing with this 6'7" huge dude and his driver head flies off when he hits one of his shots and the big lummox thinks that the shaft broke so he gets pissed off and snaps the rest of the ~$200 shaft in half only to find out that the epoxy keeping the head on to the shaft had melted in the texas heat and it would've been really easy to fix. Re: Boom goes the Driver Head
I also have a KZG driver that went flying with the ball down the course. I have also caved the face in too. Both times they were handled and replaced by my club builder for free.

Re: Boom goes the Driver Head
This same thing happened to me, except the club just broke off after I hit a ball.
It is repairable, but you'll likely need a new shaft. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing. If the tip of the shaft is broken or damaged in any way you'll have to get a new shaft. |
