Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The ownership structure is going to be next to impossible to figure out without some sort of confidential document. As long as we are talking about transparency - who owns Poker Stars? - almost impossible to figure out [/ QUOTE ] ''Because of rules requiring that Mohawks own all businesses on-reserve, the commission set up Mohawk Internet Technologies to operate the online casino business. MIT operates a server farm on the reserve, and offers space on the servers to online casino operators. MIT collects a monthly fee from the casino operators.'' The above is a quote from this article: http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/ga...etcasinos.html This means Joe Norton owns AP because AP needs to be owned by an Indian according to Mohawk rules (i.e. for AP to be able to have their server on the reserve). As I understand it, the ownership by Joe Norton is for Indian rules and Joe charges a fee for this services but is not part of the actual management of AP. [/ QUOTE ] Then Joe pretty much has to have as much money as Bill Gates, because he would have to own all the companies that make use of the servers, wouldn't he? [/ QUOTE ] Besides which, it is not AP's server, it is the Mohawk's server that he is "renting?" space on. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Unfortunately, knowledge of this scandal isn't exactly reaching as much of the poker community as we had hoped. [/ QUOTE ] Nearly every day of the fall poker classic at canterbury, I somehow ended up talking about AP at the tables -- usually by other people bringing it up. I think it's a sort of underground movement that will gradually spread its way across the entire poker playing community. [/ QUOTE ] It's too juicy of a story not to spread. A buddy of mine who's firmly convinced that he can't profit from horrible players (only decent ones) knew about it, and he barely plays online. Also a ton of my programming nerd friends know about it just from digg. |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
[ QUOTE ]
AP do not know what we know. Thus, if they're hiding something, they don't know if they will get caught. [/ QUOTE ] Don't you think that is one of the main reasons they invited Nat down to Costa Rica? |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
two things:
- I spoke with Jeffrey Pollack yesterday and brought him up to speed on popcorn gate. As WSOP no longer has the online poker rooms on the premesis, i doubt it will matter much, but at least he knows about the situation. - I need to get in touch with Marco Johnson on behalf of espn.com. Nat and adanthar can verify I'm on the level. If anyone has contact info (AIM, MSN, phone#) for either he or jared Hamby, please PM it to me. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] No Seif HH = Seif cheated in my book. [/ QUOTE ] tbh, no one really cares about your book. show da HH and your accusations will be taken seriously. Until then, stfu. [/ QUOTE ] Seif says he'll produce HHs + Seif doesn't produce anything and goes silent on the matter * (ikestoys logic) = Seif is exhonerated! Can't argue with that equation. [/ QUOTE ] no, youre an idiot [/ QUOTE ] I just love well-reasoned, dispassionate, impersonal debate. It adds so much to this thread. (Oh no! Now I'm doing it too!) (Edited for punctuation.) |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
This needs more love:
Upon learning of the incident, AP immediately contacted Gaming Associates, an independent worldwide expert in audits, interactive gaming tests and information security, to undertake an internal investigation. Immediately thereafter, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), AP’s governing licensing authority, opened its own inquiry into the scheme. - Absolute Poker, October 24, 2007 The result of our investigation is that we found no evidence that any of Absolute Poker’s redundant and varying levels of game client security were compromised. In other words, we have determined with reasonable certainty that it is impossible for any player or employee to see hole cards as was alleged. There is no part of the technology that allows for a “superuser” account, and there is no way for any person to influence the game software to their advantage. We base this finding on a thorough security check on a technological level, coupled with a thorough investigation of hand histories including those that did not go to a showdown. - Absolute Poker, October 12, 2007 |

Re: AP infinity plus one - New AP Statement
Kind of a smokescreen though. Whether or not they contacted Gaming Associates or the KGC 'immediately' is not the point.
The first thing they should have done is call the police. They still haven't. That's all we need to know. (Nice one, wisehand.) |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] No mention of them having contacted the police, in any country. Think about that. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think AJ Green blackmailing AP is a secret by now so I'm just gonna come out and say it: AJ Green blackmailed AP. duh. [/ QUOTE ] if the secret has come out, then why aren't they going after him now? If true, wouldn't that be the fastest way for them to regain their credibility? [/ QUOTE ] please explain how going after him now would stop him telling the DOJ what he knows any better than a week ago [/ QUOTE ] AJ had something on Absolute that they were willing to pay for rather than go to the police.... That hasn't changed! They don't want him talking!! [/ QUOTE ]poker sites dont want to be going to the authorites, too much financial stuff to keep quiet for a start. poker sites operate in a grey area in the usa. post uiga they prob canty go to any authoroties. |

It would be cool though if in fact Citibank etc were actually owned by a Mohawk Indian. But I doubt it. |
