how confident are the hardcore Red Sox fans?
i.e. what kind of odds will you give me? |

confidence-wise, i just feel like we can't lose. but we also haven't lost a world series since i was a little kid.
betting wise, i would guess that the sox are about -150, but i am not particularly knowledgeable. |

[/ QUOTE ] The corollary to that is, of course, that the Red Sox have only won one world series since you were a little kid, and have won one in the last 89 years. Which is to say, that not losing a world series since 1986 doesn't really have a lot of bearing on 2007. I can't wait for the games to start going down, at any rate. It's time. |

mondo, what i was trying to say (rather clumsily) is that recent experiences have left me very confident once we get out of the ALCS. if i was simply going by the 'number of world series won since i was a kid' model, we'd be a mortal lock
basically i am saying, viscerally we feel one way, logically we know different. or at least some of us do. |

[/ QUOTE ] Agreed -- just yanking your chain a bit. I fully realize the Red Sox are a "better" team, even if the extent of that is debatable. I also fully believe the Rockies will win the series, but really, it's only because I don't think the Sox are *that* much better, and that some of their advantages will be neutralized or countered by certain disadvantages they'll face in the Coors Field games. And that it won't be luck for the Rockies to win, because it's not that much more than a coin flip. Is that kinda visceral? I guess so. But no matter how many computer simulations are run, in the end, it's 25 real people on each team playing up to 7 real games. I kinda shudder at the idea of Fogg starting a Game 7, though. I like him, but eeshk. |

this is cool. i have no life. but i have an excuse, the world is burning around me. okay, starbucks first. do i get a nap in? hmm. ahhh some vipassana. I will view this series as "the signless", i will take nothing as a sign or a jinx. its is not nibbana, it will be rejected as such. i have cast my lot with jd drew (but good starting pitching, man ram and papi, all the guys feel free to help). lowell is stud dr love. gogogogogogo. sorry, but when your team is badass, what can you do? |
