I'm going to BA in Dec for 11 days with friends and we want to rent a nice apartment- ideas for location and websites? I have a friend there now who can check things out for us, too. And what can we expect to pay?

A very rough estimate is about $1000 a month for a two bedroom with everything included.

I wouldn't bank on being able to easily get a luxurious two week rental during the on season (now until around January) in a nice area all willy nilly at the last minute. In the pre-furnished rental market, $1000/month does not go very far unless you are willing to stay outside the wealthier/nicer areas (Recoleta, Palermo, Puerto Madero etc.). The nicer areas are going to run closer to $2000/month for a two bedroom and you won't be getting any discounts on an eleven day stay. If you are only staying eleven days you could save yourself a lot of headache by staying at one of the several nice bed and breakfasts in Palermo that will only run you about $40-70/night. The service quality of some of the rental companies is unpredictable at best and some can take anywhere between two days and forever to respond to your e-mails/calls.

I came across this article about the recent presidential elections and was wondering if anyone here has any comments.

The article also says that "inflation is thought to be near 20%."

Dios santo, 20 % percent? Now or during 2008? Yes I see that it stands "now" in the article, but it can be interpreted in two ways.

Anyone know if there is a casino that offers holdem? I went to the riverboat casino, but no luck. Does the one by the Hipodromo offer poker?

try mercadolibre.com.ar . It's just like ebay (actually under the ebay umbrella I think).

I have bought and sold on it and have had good results.
