He is wearing a harness underneath his clothes and there is a lanyard coming out one of his sleeves that connects him to the rig. I think a terminal Mr. Bill is possible. If you could get your arms underneath the main lift web of your partner's harness, I think you could hang on. Hopefully it would not break your arms. I was once caught on my way to the plane with my chest strap misrouted and had dreams for months afterward about trying to do this. |

Air resistance is a function of air density, velocity, and surface area. So it really depends on how the people are falling, but if it's two guys grabbing each other like a tandem jump without a harness, it's doubtful that the reference surface area will be double that of a single person. Two guys next to each other are slightly harder, there's probably some interference between the two so there's less drag, like how a biplane does not equal two seperate wings, but it would be closer to two people. Damn, this is way too serious for BBV.

Drop a feather and a brick in a vacuum they both will land at the same time. I think nasa did a similar experiment on the moon. It's just air resistance.

Gravity is a constant force on the earth and an object accellerates according to the constant force of gravity pulling it down and the force of friction (air resistance) which works 'against' gravity lowering its effect. Mass, and therefor weight as weight is mass times the gravity, is irrelivent to acceleration and terminal velocity. The reason it might be different with two people is because they are holding onto each other their air resitance might be increased. So whilst they might have a lower terminal velocity relative to each individually they will never have a higher one - all things being equal. [/ QUOTE ] You have no idea what you are talking about. I am not a physics expert. But I do know that a pair of people on top of one another will fall much faster than a single jumper. Have you ever seen a tandem jump done (i have done a 1200 tandems as an instructor) we use a drouge chute to slow our decent rate to that of a normal jumper which is around 120mph. The reason the two fall faster is there is more weight and less resistance. |
