Gross spots with 99
Villain is unknown, very early in the tourney (Tilt 55k 150+13) so I don't have much of a read. I'm not particularly aggro from LP, but I still raise a fair amount. Does anybody 4 bet preflop, if so are you calling a shove? I assume nobody bets the flop? Call the turn?
Convertor is all f'ed, effective stacks are 3k. Thanks guys. Final Pot: Ok, this is the first hand from the Stars 100k 150+12 so again I have no reads. Is 3 betting here standard or do you guys generally just call, flop action look ok? Sorry if these are trivial, but I feel a little rusty and my game feels a little off. Re: Gross spots with 99
Playing 88-JJ correct are very hard. There are many options available. Very early in the tournament I mostly use them to steal blinds or play them for set value. Dont want to build a big pot with hard to play hands.
Later on when I have reads on my opponents I can play them much more aggressivly. Hand 1 is ok. Hand 2 I would call preflop and check-call on the flop and check-fold the turn if button fires a second barrel and I've missed my set. |

Re: Gross spots with 99
Both are fine, but I don't understand why people are saying flat with 99 in the second hand? You assume an unknown's button raising range is pretty wide, why flat with 99?
My only comment is that in hand two you should bet a little more on the flop, around 400 is better IMO. |
