It depends on if you think you can outplay your table, IMO. He's obv not doing this with KK or AA so 90% of the time its a flip. If the table is strong, and you feel like this is a good time to double up, go for it. If the table is weak and you feel like you have a decent edge over them, then you can fold and not bother racing.

Meh, we have a 35 BB stack. Which will be 23 or so at the next level change. You're going to struggle to excercise much of an edge.

Lol. I'd probably call. We're free-rolling the flush draw.

OK, I wouldn't call really but his range is tight and specific. Sadly, AK is not in great shape against it because it doesn't include AQ and there's not enough money in the middle.

For me, though, it's close and if table conditions were really messy, I'd be tempted to make a marginally -EV call here because our stack size sucks if we're getting flatted a lot by big stacks behind etc.

Yeh, it is actually close. Depends on whether you want to gamble. I really think that is the main consideration, because this is a big gamble, and very close in cEV.

You are almost always freerolling or like a 54-46 dog. Could villain be a nut with a weaker high card hand? Could he have a big pair?

I have seen this live a few times. And I have never seen AA or KK shown down when this play is made. In some games in Ireland you could see like 44 - 99 here. English players traditionally have less gamble to them, so I'm guessing this is 1010 - QQ // AKs // AKo. I really wouldn't mind a call here tbh. I think it's a flip or a split pot like always. And I never mind flipping for a big stack early doors.

I gamble and go all - in for the extra 3k or whatever. But folding is obviously the standard thing to do.

UTG is new to the table, 30-35 years old and white, has only played an orbit. And has not played a hand in that orbit.

this is what I was going on

which makes it a fold, yah?

In a recent $500 buy-in tourney at the USPC at the Taj, 1st level, 25/50, older guy makes it 700 to go from EP, everyone folds, he proudly turns up AA. That hand has altered my perception of massive overbets a little bit. I'd fold here, although I think you're freerolling a flush vs. AKo a lot of the time here. Speaking of that, did anyone see the PAD where there was a reference to Hellmuth losing a huge prop bet where he bet that AKo was a favorite against AKs all-in pre because it was drawing to 2 flushes? So, to summarize, two amusing stories, no real advice for the hand.

If we were just playing against his range, this is a marginal call at best. The fact that he is UTG and we are UTG+1 leaving 7-8 players left to act makes this a clear fold imo.

Well, there is about a 6% chance someone has AA/KK. Since you have AK and villain may also have AK, it is less than 3%. Still that does have some effect on the EV of callin.
