25NL WTF Am I doing?
Villain is 20/6/infinity over 30 hands. I called flop intending on taking it away on the turn but oops, I just call. This whole hand felt dirty... how do you play it?

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
Firstly I think an UTG raise with A8 is a leak, especially at microstakes when you're going get called by at least one player more often than not. With A8 you're often dominated if an ace comes on the flop, and remember there will be no Ace on the flop 4/5 of the time anyway.
As played I fold the flop, you have nothing with no draw and it is very likely that the board hit your opponent in some way. On the river you really can't consider calling, you would be calling $21 and at best you are getting a split from such a tight opponent. Calling $21 hoping to win $4 on a 3-flush board isn't profitable. |

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
At 25NL I would definitely fold A8o UTG. I also think that if you were intending to float that you should probably shutdown after the turn bet and fold. On the river a flush doesn't make sense to me. It looks more like AQ. Possibly AK but I think that he would have reraised from the BB. I would have probably called depending on my reads.
But either way I don't even want to get into this situation. |

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
First of all guys this is 4handed so I'm openraising from CO basically, which I don't think is too bad.
Thanks for the responses though. I'd really like some more input though. |

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
Its 4 handed, do you guys open A8 in the CO? I generally fold these spots, we split at best (never ever a hand that we beat) and lose a fair chunk of the time we're behind. And even when we do split, we lose to rake, either way, fold or raise the flop calling just sucks

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
Why did you call on the flop?
Overall this pot seems pretty lose lose. |

Re: 25NL WTF Am I doing?
I don't think open-raising A8 4-handed is really bad, although I wouldn't do it against blinds that like to float flops too often. I'm hoping to steal and that's about it.
If you're going to float the flop I think you have to raise the turn when a scare card hits, especially since you know he doesn't have the Ac. Sure you picked up a draw but your implied odds are probably not great if the board 4-flushes. I raise the turn to about 7 and fold to a shove. His river bet is a flush hoping to get paid off by a random ace way more often then a bluff I think, especially if he knows everyone loves to play ace-rag at microstakes. |
