Gotta Have Chips
In reading about the new vBulliten software that 2+2 will be switching to, Ryan included a few sites to check out and the Chiptalk forum was one. I didn't know that buying chips was such a passionate endeavour. One guy said he bought 3000 in 2 weeks. Another guy had a pix of his 5 sets of chips along with cards, etc. It doesn't sound like these posters actually play poker, just collect chips. I have one set of chips that aren't Paulson's or Top-Hat and aren't stamped with an amount, a pretty generic set. So, my question is, are folks here big chip collectors along with liking to play poker, or are the folks over there pretty singular?

Re: Gotta Have Chips
I have two sets and one on the way:
Set 1: http://www.homepokertour.com/graphics/cash_set.jpg Set 2: http://www.homepokertour.com/graphics/bdc_chips2.jpg Set Shipping (mockup pics only): http://www.homepokertour.com/nevada_...ip_contest.php (yes I skipped a month of the contest so I could fuel my addiction) I only play home games these days (as many as I can) but over the past couple years I've played a good 360 hours of live and online poker. I hate playing home games with ghetto chips...guess I'm a chip snob now no thanks to chiptalk Chip addictions are sad I know...not as respectable as a booze, porn, gambling, or drug problem. Oh well. |

Re: Gotta Have Chips
I like to have an attactive set of chips at the table .... I think it actually helps me play better in some weird kinda way. The people at chiptalk are on another level. Pictures of their chip collections are referred to as porn on the reg ..... that should tell you something right there.

Re: Gotta Have Chips
Oh, I totally agree! I wouldn't mind having one of stevea's 2 sets myself; they are nice. But for those stone chippuppies, I wonder if there's and end or is it really like those other, less savory practices mentioned?

Re: Gotta Have Chips
I've got some generic dice chips, a friend's place where i play a lot has some nicer chips. I envy him, and really enjoy playing with his chips.

Re: Gotta Have Chips
The reviews on chiptalk are well done, but I agree that a lot of those guys like poker chips a little too much. The thing that annoyed me was how so many of the chips with good reviews are either completely unavailable or sold out of most colors. I settled on Nexgen Lucky Bees (guess why) but then discovered that half the colors are unavailable. So I said to hell with it and ordered Super Diamonds instead, they were so cheap that I bought 1200. I ordered custom labels from slamdunkimports and am very satisfied. Between the chips, racks, labels and shipping I spent about $160. The only downside was attaching all those labels (about 30 min. per rack).
