While I don't quite agree with the "unless you have to" part (in XP there are stupid performance problems that come when you delete files if your recycling bin is full), this is good advice. Seriously, if you don't at least take a quick glance at the Recycle Bin before emptying it, you're asking for trouble.

This is probably something you shouldn't tell your GF until some time has past. I bet its not what she's looking for.

yeah i think gf is just unable to work things like computers or cars because i ran data rescue and it turned up some wicked old [censored] but not a single powerpoint file. there was this 100 MB 'extras' file that showed up but i couldn't find any way to open it.
