Should this have been a bet/fold situation?
Commerce $20-40. Villian is a loose passive player. He has gotten aggressive a couple times very briefly and in extremely spazzy ways. I at one time in the past thought he was a pretty decent player. I was wrong. He had been playing in the $40-80 and recently started playing more $20-40. I think a few of the $40-80 players are still crying.
I raise A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG+1. A caller and villian calls in BB. Flop is KJx rainbow. I bet, fold, villian calls. Turn is a brick. I fire again and again villian calls. River is a jack. He checks, I check. So is check ok here or is this b/f? |

Re: Should this have been a bet/fold situation?
Unless I knew this guy to be an inveterate river check-raiser, which are few and far between in the 20-40 at Commerce, and not that common in the 40-80, I would bet here virtually 100% of the time.

With your description I'm bet/calling.
Folding at any point seems bad. |

Re: Should this have been a bet/fold situation?
This is one of those spots where even if you call a raise 100% of the time and lose, its still correct to bet. That said, I b/f this live but I dont know what kind of spazzy stuff hes done. Its very rare to see a river c/r bluff though even from the spazziest players.

The river is a must bet. What to do if you get raised is highly player dependent.

I would have bet any pocket pair that was higher than whatever X on the flop was on the river.
