Re: Steps on Stars

[ QUOTE ] There is no difference between entering a step tournament and taking the winnings to the next step tournament and doing the same with regular tournaments. [/ QUOTE ] Other than you can stop whenever you want and take the money when playing normal tournaments. [/ QUOTE ] Sure, but every time you reinvest winnings you pay rake again. As long as the amount of $ you are forced to reinvest in the Steps system is less than the amount you plan to reinvest for the rest of your poker career, there's no difference, other than the risk associated with escalating stakes (where the desired outcome is being required to play a big event underrolled). But that risk is central to satellites; either accept it or don't, and it really isn't relevant to the question of rake. Now, obviously, I'd prefer less rake, so any system that reduced rake for the Steps or anything else would be great. But Steps aren't overraking you relative to normal tournaments. The fact it's a contained system just makes it easier to think, incorrectly, that they are. |

Re: Steps on Stars
14 of 18 signed up for a step 6. Is this the first one that's going to run? I haven't seen one start yet. Oh and a soft lineup it looks like:

Prima understands this and only charges rake when you buy in the first time using $. Chris |

Re: Steps on Stars
Ok, that step 6 is filled with fricking all god damn pros holy cow. The one now has like Sctrojans playaplz etc.
Stars, make it so once you win a package, you cannot enter anymore. Its dumb having all the pros always be playing the top level and just converting their 5th and 6th packages to W$ or cash - watever happens |

Re: Steps on Stars
you shouldn't be allowed to buy-in directly to Step 5 or 6.
It defeats the whole concept of the STEPS system. Just hold a seperate 1 man sit n go to the PCA if u want to let people buy-in directly. |

Re: Steps on Stars
Bryan S,
I agree that winners of PCA packages should not be allowed to play the steps. I've got a step 4 ticket that I may not play since I don't see much point in donating my money in a SNG with 8 top players. The good players have other avenues to win multiple seats. Do they really need another one? Maybe most of the players starting out at step 1 have no clue how little chance they have at winning a PCA package. Paul K |
