I still think this is good news for Braves haters. Schuerholz will obviously have continued influence, but someone else will have chief responsibility for player moves, won't they? Otherwise, there would be no significance to these titles.
My totally uninformed impression is that he probably wants to spend less time and energy dealing with the day-to-day grind. |

(Needed a title change.)
His best moves were getting washed up/medicore pitchers - Lightenburg, Remlinger, Burke, etc, etc who filled gaps pretty well. |

He also kept/got Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux. Drafted Chipper and Andruw. If he could only get a closer as good as John S.

Wynton,
But now he gets to spend his time recruiting Joe Torre for the 2009 season after Bobby retires post-WS championship. |

The Braves apparently began to butt heads with Leo by the end of his time in Atlanta and the fact that they didn't put up a lot of fight to him leaving would seem to confirm this.
It sounds like the Braves will sign Glavine and then attempt to spin Renteria/James into a solid #3 starter. A rotation of Smoltz, Hudson, #3 starter, Glavine, and Reyes/Hampton could do some damage in the NL with the current lineup. |
