On-line poker in Washington State
My girlfriend wants to move to Seattle. I have heard Washington state has some pretty draconian laws regarding on-line gambling, to the order of felony. Can you play on-line in Washington state? Any one playing in Seattle?
Thanks. |

Yes there are laws in Washington State and a few other states I believe but as far as I know no one has ever been prosecuted.

Re: On-line poker in Washington State
Washington state law does indeed specifically make playing poker on line a felony offense (up to 5 years in the pen, as I recall). No one has yet to be prosecuted under the law, a move is under way to repeal the law, and a constitutional challenge is underway in court (which you can find out more about at the PPA website).
I wouldnt worry about some small time play if I lived in Washington unless I had a job that would be affected (teacher, lawyer, etc...). I would worry about being a big time player there, real money draws attention. Of course, thats assuming anyone finds out about your play once you move there, if you do . No other state has a law this tough on the player, indeed, few other states have laws against playing at all. Skallagrim |
