I Like Mac\'s and I like Poker Stars
I'm going to purchase a laptop for school this weekend. I really like the Mac Book Pro, but also really like poker stars. Is it worth getting a Mac and going through the hassel of setting up windows on it or should I just get a normal laptop?

Re: I Like Mac\'s and I like Poker Stars
If you like the mac get the mac, pokerstars will be available on macs, without parallels, probably by the end of the month, but could be longer.

[/ QUOTE ] You can boot directly into Windows and run it just as well as any "normal laptop," so this is certainly not a reason to not get a Mac. Set up is not a hassle at all, unless you're really, really lazy. |

There is not point in wasting money on the upgrade when you can get it for free with a few weeks of patience. FWIW, rumors are that Boot Camp (the software that allows you to dual-boot windows & OSX) will not be usable on OSX Tiger (the current version of Mac OSX) after Leopard comes out. |

Re: I Like Mac\'s and I like Poker Stars
Buy a Mac and also buy Parallels ... you can run any Windows application under MacOS with it - with the new "coherence" feature your windows application even look like native MacOS application.
http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac And yeah...wait until the end of October when Leopard is going to be releasesd. |

Re: I Like Mac\'s and I like Poker Stars
sorry to bump but im just trying to understand parellels.
so with parallels you can run non-mac supported programs like PT and PAhud through your mac OS (ie. not using windows)? If so are there any downsides to this? like performance and how it looks? |

Make sure your running at least 2 gigs of ram and might want to opt for 3 or 4 gigs. I'm personally buying the new MacBook Pro the day New OS goes live which according to Apple's site is simply "in October" |
