Win XP Error
Team,
After http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...=0#Post12285838 I've got a hard disk that I'm wanting to install into my machine. When I'm trying to install Windows XP, I get this error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293077 [ QUOTE ] To resolve this issue: 1. Disable all third-party filter drivers, such as backup programs, virus scanning programs, and disk utilities. 2. Make sure that you are using hardware that appears on the Windows Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). To view the latest Windows HCL, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx) [/ QUOTE ] 1) I have no programs or anythign loaded - I've just partitioned the disk. 2) The hard disk has previously had Win XP on it, so I can't imagine how this is a problem. I've tried this with two different hard disks and had the same problem with both of them. |

Re: Win XP Error
During which part of the installation do you get the error?

Re: Win XP Error
i got the error with 35 minutes remaining on the install.
i was able to overcome it by going into the bios and activating "fail-safe defaults" the installation then progresses fine... but now the PC hangs during boot-up when the Windows XP logo should display when the OS is loading. I'm almost of the mind that I'm better off spending $150 on a cheap P4 machine (similar to the one I'm operating) rather than stuffing around with the current bits and pieces. |
