Do you use headsets when playing online?
Do you use a headset when playing online? They are fairly new for console gaming but have been around for a little while for PCs. So far I've found it to be fairly worthless banter. I don't care how pissed you are that you got blown up, it happens. I can say that only once have I heard real communication on a team that lead to more kills and a better time. It became especially clear when I got transferred to the other team to balance the match out.
What are your opinions on them? |

Re: Do you use headsets when playing online?
I can't really imagine playing an FPS without them. The most useful reason you didn't mention - just to chat with your friends, although this is probably more relevant with an online party system like Halo's. Strategy talk is occasional, and usually not much deeper than "hey, they're coming up the right side!" or "rockets spawned.."
I don't really get much into the smack talk. |

Re: Do you use headsets when playing online?
I played Halo2 a lot and I think I've put a decent amount of time in on Halo3 but I pretty much never use a headset. I had to hide it from my old roommate who was worse than the 12 year old racists with his retarded chat and never bothered to get it out. I didn't really accept friend/clan invites ever also, but with people in the other thread friending me and me trying to get into more team games I might start using it, if only to grunt when they ask me which game I want to play.

Re: Do you use headsets when playing online?
If your post is related to online gaming chat, does using headphones and a mic count while on a pc? I've certainly done that in CS and WoW. CS was about 1/4 general strategy, 1/2 general chat, 1/4 smack talk/hacker accusations. WoW was 90% strategy, 10% chat (If I was too lazy to alt tab out and close vent after a raid, for instance).

as gay as it is, it's pretty necessary.
the hardest part is getting used to your girlfriend/wife catching you wearing it. |

Re: Do you use headsets when playing online?
Five-Star, I'm guessing you aren't talking about competitive play either. You can't use the headset to talk to your opponent during scrimmages/matches.

[/ QUOTE ] I believe you can by pressing up on the d-pad. I haven't tried it, but that's what I hear from kids that like to trash talk during lone wolves and complain that it is causing them to die because it takes their left thumb away from the controller. lol... |

I only play ranked matches and I play to win. I prefer playing Team matches over free for alls but I'm still competitive. Could you clarify your statement please. |
