[/ QUOTE ] if there's no shade, it's impossible for a white man at least in sunny climates in summer. also you should at least let the guy get out for a couple minutes and poop in a bucket or something. Interesting what the over/under temperature wise would be. |

Someone made asked about my body fat levels as an insulator.. my avatar is a recent photo... so figure 8-9%. I weigh b/w 205-210, so needless to say, I'm not very bouyant

A major factor in determining success is where Sean normally dives, and how often he dives.
I've spent hours under the water in warm locales where the locals where freezing, because I'm used to diving very cold water. Acclimation makes a huge difference in how your body will withstand the cooling affect of the water. If Sean dives 50 times a year, and off California or more Northern Western States, or the North East States, this bet isn't that hard then. I've fallen asleep at deco stops, so rest isn't that much of an issue. It's whether his body can take the cold. |

All of my salt water dives have been in tropical or sub-tropical waters. My longest time in waters this temp without exposure protection (ie wetsuit) is under 10 hours. I don't expect the bet to be easy for me, I just believe I can do it.

The problem with this prop bet is that it is either pretty easy, or devastatingly hard, and nobody but Sean could really know. I know people who would laugh at the challenge, because they've spent 24 hours doing deco stops in freezing water. While they obviously had dry suits, it's still exceedingly cold. While most people would have trouble making 10 hours. Good luck on the prop bet. |
