[ QUOTE ]
I think a lot of young players might be missing. Playing poker after a night of drinking is hardly fun. Thursday and Saturday nights I rather be out then playing. There could also be a lot of players that play live on weekends. [/ QUOTE ] Two very good points. |

exactly.
some full-timers really grind it out through the week and take some time-off over the weekends. That's where the fish-to-shark ratio changes. Just because I like to crank out the hours on the weekends doesn't mean I always accomplish that or that ALL multi-tabling full-timers do the same thing. No matter how juicy the games are I do make other plans that take me away for significant stretches. I'm not playing 80 hours a week and most others aren't either. But when I do get in those hours on the weekends I see a lot of unfamiliar faces and also notice the absence of some regulars who I'm practically ALWAYS playing with. Some of my most annoying multi-tabling sharks that I can never get away from sometimes actually do seem to be noticeably absent during at least part of the weekend. FWIW - it's certainly not just the young people that do some drinking mostly on weekends. Basically, I think a significant percentage can call themselves 'mostly during the week' or 'mostly weekends'. And the 'mostly during the week' ones are more likely to not be completely awful. Basically, if a player maybe deposits onto Stars just a couple times a year and has no idea what the hell he's doing at the tables I'm guessing this type of player is far more likely to show up on the weekends than on a random Tuesday afternoon or something. |

The last many months I've noticed that the low limit that I play on Stars is quite a bit tighter on weekends. The standard that I'm using is the number of VP-30+ tables available. There are frequently many of these available during the week and substantially fewer on the weekends. The only way this makes sense to me is that possibly, many players that were playing full time at lower limits have had to go back to real jobs and now only have weekends to play.

I know for a while last fall/winter, I was 12-tabling constantly for a couple of months, way way more hands than I ever put in on a regular basis, and every single friday and saturday night were really good nights, just really noticeably better than any other day or time. It's sort of weird having a long thread talking about this when it just seems instinctually logical that recreational players will play more at night and weekends.

[/ QUOTE ]I've noticed this at FTP. A few months ago I sat at some FT $100NL tables on Saturday night ready for some easy grinding and was shocked to discover four of the other five players at literally almost every table had the same 22/19/4-ish stats I do. |
