****Official Baseball First Round****
I wouldn't bet against my Yankees because I wouldn't be able to enjoy watching the games. But what are everyone's thoughts on Cleveland?
They have the best record in baseball, and probably the best 1 2 punch at pitcher. I like them at +850 to win the world series... Alright I said my crappy thoughts, but I'm really interested in some sabermetric picks for the post season... hopefully someone with more knowledge then myself can add to the thread |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
Where do you see Cleveland +850 to win the World Series? The best I have seen is +669 (WSEX).
The best I have seen Cleveland to win the AL Pennant is +425. Check out this line from Olympic (thegreek): 10/3/2007 7:00 PM American League vs National League 101 American League -225 102 National League +185 Any of the 4 AL teams will be a significant favorite over the NL Pennant winner. Cleveland +850 is great value. Edit to add: 5Dimes has Cle at +715 |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
ugh I just took Arizona 10/1 to win WS. (cubs fan so I guess no matter who wins the first round I've got something to root for next round...) [couldn't find a better line on a book I can bet on]
Surprised I found a line better than 9/1 on any of these teams though. |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
I have seen Zona at 11:1
I think there is some value in the first round. You can get Cleveland around +150 against the Yanks and LA around +160 against the Sox. |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
I have accounts at WSEX and Pinny and can find no Series Winner odds or bets on either site.
Am I missing something there or do I need to look elsewhere?? Rainbow... |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
so are we all looking at the rockies tonight?? i realize the padres have the cy young going, but just based on feeling, the rockies have everything going for them, including, but not limited to: josh fogg, momentum, home-field advantage.

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
The line itself is kind of significant too.
Normally I would agree with some of what you are saying...but that's IF there was a nice line on the Rocks. There isn't imo. Getting Peavy at only -128 or better since it appears to be falling ain't too shabby at all. I'm in love with this miraculous Rockies story as much as the next fan and will mostly be cheering for them. But my bet is on the Padres because I think that's where the value is. |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
okay, then the next question is will the line go up or down in the next few hours?? i only checked bodog, but i thought that the rockies at +124 WAS the significant side, as i pictured more of a pick'em type situation..
it should be said that i'm not too hot with baseball... on another note: anyone see any series prices yet? i have a bet with my brother on the opening line on the indians/yankees series...we actually got into a pretty (drunken) heated argument after the pavlik fight over the weekend... he thought the indians should be a small favorite, i know the yankees will be...as much as i love my tribe, they're 0-6 against them this year, and the homefield advantage is zero, seeing how there have been more yankee fans than indians fans at the 3 tribe-yankee home games i've been to over the past 2 years..plus, carmona only pitches once, which means westbrook will lose game 4.. |

Re: ****Official Baseball First Round****
Wiper,
0-6 this year is such a small sample size and it's pretty worthless... Arod choking in his last three postseason would be more relevant... but it still is also pretty insignificant anyway BETUS.com I believe has them at +850 |
