AA on 77Q7J board
Villain is new to the table and no reads. Too much?

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
Call down from the turn 3-bet. I wouldn't have raised the flop though. I would have probably just called and raised a turn bet on that card.

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
I don't know what to make of his line, so I think I probably put on the brakes once he 3-bets the turn.
If I did cap the turn, I definitely just call the river donk. That's a lot of big bets to put in without solid evidence that villain is a moron. |

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
I really, really thought an overplayed naked Q was waaaay more likely than a 7 since villain raised from UTG (and didn't cap, so QQ is unlikely)

[ QUOTE ]
I really, really thought an overplayed naked Q was waaaay more likely than a 7 since villain raised from UTG (and didn't cap, so QQ is unlikely) [/ QUOTE ] This is 3/6 short-handed. This guy could have A7o, K7s, 87s, etc... Maybe he's taking a shot at the flop with A high or a small pp as well. I usually let people bet for me on paired boards, especially when I've shown a lot of strength pre-flop. Think about it. His flop bet makes no sense in the context of this hand, unless he's fishing for more action. I would have raised the turn like I said, because that turn card makes an overplayed Q more likely. But, when he 3-bets you, there is no other choice but to call down. You have no reason to put in any more action. If you have a read that he can't read hands and will overplay his hands, then you can put in some more action. If you had a read that he is overaggressive and likes to bluff, then you should still just be calling. |

After you cap the turn and he still donks I'm only calling.

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
Turn cap is fine IMO. This is a Q far more often than a 7 based on probability alone, not to mention there are far more Q's in his utg opening range than 7's. Once you cap the turn, its pretty clear what you have and he doesnt care, so just call.

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
there are quite a few hands that beat you on the river. I just call the river bet, and if I raised, I would just call the 3bet.

Re: AA on 77Q7J board
Since villain is unknown I dont mind the turn cap.
But if villain has a brain he will know that after hero raises the turn his Qx is behind. So when he 3-bets he is telling hero he can beat Qx. 7x and QQ might not be a lot of combos. But any good player has those exact hands after the turn 3-bet. Maybe a tilty played Qx. But again, since he is unknown I think the turn cao is ok. The river raise is spewtarded. |
