Re: Rank the Mets\' collapse
to be honest, i'm not sure how many parts are really there, this pitching is very old with pedro, duque and glavine...
all about pitching and it's getting old, offense is fine though perez and maine will be decent, servicable at the least... the young pitching has been a letdown for the most part as i was expecting good things out of them, but it may come yet... |

Re: Rank the Mets\' collapse
[ QUOTE ]
I hope a failure to make the playoffs doesn't cause a gross overraction to the state of the team and franchise. It's not as if we're a team in crisis with no good parts. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that there are plenty of solid parts, but I disagree that there is much chance of an overreaction. I think it is much more likely that they will err on the side of making too few moves. |

Re: Rank the Mets\' collapse
[ QUOTE ]
This team has no chutzbah no moxxy no grit no determination. [/ QUOTE ] This is not true and is what makes the collapse so disappointing. The offense has put up run numbers that should have been big enough to win many more games than they have, and has engineered some pretty significant comebacks that were ruined one way or another by the bullpen. The gutless aspect to this rests overwhelmingly with the pitching staff, mostly with the piece of [censored] bullpen that cannot get anyone out and has blown numerous sizeable leads the offense has given them. |

Re: Rank the Mets\' collapse
BP says it would be the second worst collapse of all time (speaking from odds to make the playoffs --> out).
