Re: 600NL 6max. Flop top set with 3 diamonds on board.
i don't play 600NL but i'm sure 3betting his minraise is like NL law somewhere. do you really want to set mine w/JJ on the button six handed?
as played, i'd bet the pot. the pot is small enough relative to stacks that if you get one or two callers and the flush hits on the turn you can correctly call a turn bet to try to fill up on river. i assume you're 3betting big if C/R'd |

ok, thanks for responses. So ignoring pre-flop action, assume HERO bets $40 and is then checkraised to $120. Action?

Re: 600NL 6max. Flop top set with 3 diamonds on board.
this is a spot i probably wouldn't be comfortable in without a read on the villain-
is this how he'd play a flopped flush? what does he minraise with? will he get it all in with a pair and the Ad? as it stands you don't really know enough about him (although i would like to know if his previous preflop raises have all been minraises) so i probably just call, leavng me with 125 BBs and position, and then see what he does on the turn... this isn't to say i would feel happy doing that,so i'd like to see what other people think...i suppose sometimes i put in a big raise, but i wouldnt feel happy doing either... |

Re: 600NL 6max. Flop top set with 3 diamonds on board.
I think you can make valid arguments for both calling and raising (though I'm certain that others who reply will almost all say to re-raise). Obviously, a fold is totally out of the question.
The more I think about it, the more I like a call. He might put you on a draw if you call (if he has a made hand) and he'll try to push you off that draw on the turn. Aside from a diamond, there aren't many cards that will your action on the turn. If he's on a draw, he'll make a big bet on the turn to try to make it seem like he has a made hand and doesn't want to get drawn out. That'll make it easy to get all the money in the middle. If you three-bet the flop, you're basically telling him you either (1) have an overpair and are overplaying it; (2) have a set and don't want to get drawn out; or (3) flopped a flush. Against his range here, I don't think you want to tell him any of that. If he flopped the flush, sucks for you. It happens. But more often than not, you're good here, and if you're not good here, make sure you pair the board. |
