[ QUOTE ]
I thought the Mass idea was to spread them around the state. One in Western Mass, one in Northern to get NH, and one South of Boston to draw RI. [/ QUOTE ] OK, I guess I'm used to thinking of anything west of Newton as the suburbs. They are talking about one in metropolitan Boston though. Probably one near Springfield. Not sure about the third. But one of the things they've been saying is people will fly in from other parts of the country to gamble here. But if they are pushing the same plan in Chi town and lord knows where else, that's increasingly unlikely. More poverty, more crime, and your daughters growing up to be prostitutes. I'll stick to home games, thanks. |

The major hurdle for this was the Speaker of the Illinois House. However, it sounds like he's softening on that. The Senate and the Governor are indeed on board, but the Speaker said he wants public hearings and he's in "no rush" to schedule them. I would put the chance of getting new casino licenses this year at around 30%. It would be one land based casino downtown and two more boats in the suburbs.
As for space downtown, a recall off-hand talk about putting a temporary casino in existing buildings like Navy Pier. |

Does anyone know anything about the possibility of horseshoe getting a poker room? Any specifics such as dates, games to be spread, tournaments to be offered would be great.

Horseshoe's new boat called the building on water will be ready for the summer of 2008. There will be an 30 plus table poker room. [/ QUOTE ] There are too many poker tables in Northwest Indiana. Two years ago, you would have to come in at 3PM on a Saturday to avoid a 3 hour wait. Now, they barely manage to fill the room at 10PM Saturday. Although it would be great if the Resorts 10/20 game moved to Horseshoe. [ QUOTE ] Thats insane to limit the number of "gaming positions" in a single casino!?! I mean, what was the insanity behind that mind-set,to keep the size of the casino's down? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. |
