[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hold a spot for GKA. I'm sure someone of the 16 won't make it. He needs to be in dammit. [/ QUOTE ] With GKA, kidcolin, Epipen, and myself in this league, one of you other guys needs to set an over/under on how many rounds too early Rajon Rondo gets drafted. -McGee [/ QUOTE ] I will be taking Rondo in round 3, so someone better take him before me if they want him [/ QUOTE ] That'll be a hefty salary. This is going to be fun. |

There will be a rookie draft. So I'm guessing still one of the top two picks.

Yeah, I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I went 0-4 in fantasy football this week, so I need something to keep me upbeat. -McGee |

We're discussing how to do the initial stuff.
The issue, if there is one, is that the economics of the league work fine in the early years, but really don't mature until year 4-5 when rookie contracts mature and all the initial draft contracts have gone from C1 to C5 and are getting absurd. So the key question is does it make sense to just let that process happen (and the league has been totally awesome while it happens), or do we try and "jump start it" somehow, and if so, how does that actually happen and how does it maintain balance. |

Would take more preparation and what not, but I would be for it. |

I'm inclined to let it mature, as it'll lend to the long-term attachment and history of the league, but people just need to be aware that it's a long-term league. |

Clark...I'm fine with it being a 4-5 year thing. But if that's not necessarily desirable, what abotu accelerating the timetable? Making rookie contracts shorter, etc. Is that feasible?

Making rookie contracts shorter, etc. Is that feasible? -McGee [/ QUOTE ] Oh, it works fine. This league from Day 1 has pretty much ruled. It just takes time to work out that every contract is either an M1, C1 or R1, meaning there's little upward pressure on salaries for a few years. But, that's ok, it really keeps things in balance at the draft so that taking older productive players is still good and that if you want to take young guys early (relative to their immediate production) you pay a price. |
