Re: common situation: midpair check/bet turn?
A) I like a Check/call river bet against this type of player as he will sometimes be betting a missed KQ type hand or something if he floats and bets on later streets
B) Im checking and folding a lot |

Re: common situation: midpair check/bet turn?
ok first you made a postion play with J8s and flopped mid pair on a T 8 3 flop.
situation A vs a loose / agressive opponent I would bet the flop and if i get raised and i have seen the player check raising with air i would go for a 4 bet and if im called I would give up on the hand. If I bet out and he just calls I would check the turn and try to use pot control and call a river bet hoping he missed a draw. situation B vs a passive player I would bet the flop and the turn 1/2 to 2/3 of the pot. I see a lot of players try to make reads calling down small pairs. he could also have a hand like J9 or JQ 97 trying to complete a striaght. If you get raised on the turn give up obv. I think you get more value from the loose player calling down trying to make a read here and i would bet this turn about 75% of the time and just check the river. |

Re: common situation: midpair check/bet turn?
Tho this may seem like the most standard check-behind in the world, I think about it and it's a bit interesting. Vs a good, thinking player, It might be best to double barrel the turn for $60, folding out 8x almost 100% of the time and any QT and under IMO. However, the only problem is, this is such a dry board he could have just c/c flop with a set and is goin for c/r turn. This 5 doesn't likely make any two pairs, but it could for sure give someone a pair+FD (with like 9Thh), where they're at least calling another street, if not repping stronger and c/r the turn if OP bets. I'd say if the person's really tight they can only have a set here. If they're a bit looser you might try a 2nd barell to fold a decent number of hands, but the only problem is, for the most part, the 5 is a blank, and so a lot of people may think Tx is still good. It would be good to double barrelling marginal hands for metagame, especialy if ur hand just goes to showdown once cuz the u'll get PAIID for a while on ur big hands.
