Re: SamG\'s Log
Don't want to be tilted forward, plus high heels make it a longer pull (more lower back risk specially for a tight hammy guy).

Re: SamG\'s Log
shemp, lifted heels make it tough to drive through the floor with your weight back...good for getting deep into a squat, but not so much for pulling...

Jeepers, it's like a half an inch.
edit: I'd get a second opinion from a weightlifting coach. |

Re: SamG\'s Log
Well, he's not trying to find his 1RM.
I guess I see these as putting one in a nice athletic position and taking some stress off the hammies-- not making it hard to keep the weight back. I've never worn them, myself, but I've been thinking about getting some recently. I wear some very old/flat court shoes-- or if I forget them and have running shoes, I'll go barefoot. |

About the shoes --
Dave76 wrties: [ QUOTE ] O/T, I highly recommend the lifting shoes in the above link. FWIW, Rippetoe practically insists that people wear them in his gym. Not necessarily that particular brand, but that style of shoe (raised heel, hard sole) does wonders for the deadlift and squat. [/ QUOTE ] Link (scroll down) More on Shoes (BB.com Rippetoe Questions Thread) FWIW, these felt much, much better than the running shoes I wore before for both the squat and press. I haven't tried deadlifting in them yet. |

If you aren't losing weight or recomping then just keep cutting calories down. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I think the weight is starting to come off now. That graph is deceptive because I wasn't cutting the whole time. |

Re: SamG\'s Log
so are there shoes that one can both deadlift and squat in? I currently just use running shoes for both but I remember hearing something about this not being ideal.

[/ QUOTE ] I just use tennis shoes. Its not the best, but I manage. This is really the 99/1 rule since this essentially matters almost nothing to your overall progress. |
