Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
Dealer was out of line...but, keep in mind you want to keep this player in his seat, too.

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
Here's a question - if the player with the winning hand in the OP's situation did muck, does he still win half the pot? He made it to showdown and can split without either of the cards in his hand. Edit: Never mind, I think this was answered above, with the answer being "no." [/ QUOTE ] He can win it if the guy who won the pot is the who asked to see his hand. b |

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
Bernie -- I agree completely, but "tapping the muck" is the rule in that card room. Interestingly, the floor also gave us an advisory opinion. If the person with QQ had asked to see the hand, it would have been a live hand, just as if I (the "winner" of the hand) had asked to see it.

Are the games really that good to play in places where they are completely unfamiliar with poker rules and procedures? [/ QUOTE ] But it's the only game in town! |

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
Notes on my story--- 10/20 stud, check/check river I have bare aces. Villian says good as all my cards are up. He drops his hole cards face down and pushes them towards dealer. Dealer says she needs to see both hands. I say no, just the winning hand has to show, if he doesn't want to show, fine with me. So the dealer reaches over and flips up his cards!!! Showing the 2 small pair he made while trying for a straight. I go nuts but I know I'm gonna lose once the cards are up. The floor comes over and AGREES with the dealer. Took me two days before I could find a floor who said I was right. One guess at the casino. [/ QUOTE ] Foxwoods. I'll take bets. |

This has been gone over before. In fact, it's been rehashed to the point this must be a rhetorical question. Dealer gets KITN. End. -al

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
dealers should have to post like 1k or something in order to deal. Every time they cost a player the pot, they have to pay out to that player, and then replenish the difference. That will keep them in line.

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
2 players at the river. Board is J-J-4-4-K. Both players check. Player in seat 9 tables 3-3. Player in seat 6 moves his cards forward face down toward the dealer but nowhere near any other cards. Dealer says "Don't you want to turn your cards up." Player shakes his head no. Dealer says "Turn your cards up. You may have the winner." [/ QUOTE ] This is a judgement call. Technically, the dealer shouldn't say anything. At low limits though, I think the dealer saying "Don't you want to turn your cards up?" is very appropriate and appreciated by most players. If the player shakes his head no, then no further speech from the dealer should be acceptable. The pot should have gone to the player with 33, and frankly the dealer screwed him out of it in this case. He went a little too far to help the noob. |
