I fold to the bet on fourth, no reason to continue with such high limits in relation to your stack unless you catch the spade on fourth.
Fifth is an even easier fold; you have a whole lot of nothing and your cards aren't good enough to continue hoping to just pair. I wouldn't have made it to sixth but I guess by this point you're committed to seeing seventh. On seventh you could attempt to steal the pot but I really doubt villain is folding anything here. |

Why call 3rd if I am going to fold 4th? Villain is probably completing regarfless of his hole cards?

the whole idea on a 3 flush, is if you hit on 4th you call or maybe even raise, and if you miss totally (no pair) you fold 4th, because now you are chasing a hand with bad odds, and are behind the whole way.

Yeh, I am aware of this, but this is a donkament, and I thought the guy was stealing. I have an ace too. It just isn't showing. I was hoping to win without a showdown.

You definitely get out on fourth. A lot of people will argue to fold that hand in a sidegame in a tournament more importantly. You do not really want to play draws in a tourney especially for stud. In fact I would not have even called on third, with the bet completed and you know that many players are already out. This really was charity.

I called on 3rd with the plan to raise 4th, representing a pair.

[ QUOTE ]
I called on 3rd with the plan to raise 4th, representing a pair. [/ QUOTE ] Then just go ahead and raise third to take control of the hand. If he is on a complete steal with something like (49)A he will have to dump. Too many funky things can happen on the turn to give him something to play. If: Your plan is to raise 4th (assuming he blanks off, but anything over a 5 that hits him might pair him, so what exactly is a blank here?) Then what is the advantage to waiting till 4th? Given the line you want to take, I'd pop 3rd. |

I do think that calling third and folding fourth would not be a particularly good game-plan. I also think folding third would be moderately absurd. If you're planning on raising fourth, why not raise third?
I do think that when the other guy bets into you on fifth, you should throw in the towel. You've shown some strength, and he's betting into you again. You have crap, and if you continue, you'll be committing too much of your stack with no pair and no real draw. |

I agree completely. This needs to find the muck on 5th st.
