Re: 2-7 Rule in NL10 Cashgame
I think it's a great rule and good fun.
It creates action if that's a problem for your game. Watch your aces get paid off. |

Re: 2-7 Rule in NL10 Cashgame
Saw it on High Stakes Poker as well. We tried it in our last home session and guess what happened...no one was dealt 72 all night. This was the funniest thing to watch. People were always thinking that eveyone was raising with 72, and it never happened. I laughed all the way home.
I do believe that it changed the texture of the game somewhat, but after some thought I have come to this conclusion: I play in games that are small stakes and there isn't anyone in this game that would lay down KK like Mike the Mouth did on High Stakes Poker. This, in my opinion, makes it hard to justify the 72 rule. Big hands and lucky draws to everyone. |

I've seen it in clubs as well, and it's absolutely idiotic. Why anyone would want to participate in this is beyond me. You will lose considerably more trying to accomplish this than you ever could by getting the bonus. [/ QUOTE ] Please tell me you are kidding. |

[ QUOTE ]
The same type of person who plays the sucker bets in craps or hits on 7 7 in blackjack against a dealer 6 because you can get a jackpot for 777 21 or the same person who shells out 200/week or more on lottery tickets and scratch and wins- they have "magical" thinking. [/ QUOTE ] Hitting that 77 against a 6 might be +EV depending on the size of the jackpot versus the size of your bet. |
