Default On-line players suck, me included!

I was killing time at a $20 SNG on FullTilt when this beat happened. I am trying to figure out how I could have played it differently, but am at a bit of a loss.

9 player SNG.

Still first round, blinds 15-30.
9 players left.

Jackpot (1280 chips)
Villain (3k)
Everyone else about 1300-1400

Jackpot on the button with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villain limps. Folds to Jackpot who makes it 135. SB and BB fold. 2 players.

Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Jackpot bets 280. Villain calls.

Turn
J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Jackpot goes all-in for rest of chips (800 or so), Villain calls.

Jackpot shows Aces, Villain shows 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the river gives villain the pot, knocks jackpot out.

So here is my question. First, he called 135 with 10-4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], then he calls a bet of 280 bet with virtually nothing, no real draw, no pair. Finally he calls my all-in with a gutshot and flushdraw, but with one card coming, he is at 27% to win. I understand that perhaps he called bet 1 and 2 to then bluff me on the river, but when I went all-in, clearly I was showing strength and taking the play away from him. Basically he was calling an all-in with almost nothing and a low chance of success for almost half of his chips. I just do not understand how some people think when they play. I do not see such a disregard for strategy when I play live as compares to on-line. By all accounts, he just made every wrong call. Or am I missing something here. other than going all-in pre-flop with aces, how else should I have played this???

Just because it didn't work this time, do not lose confidence in the strategy. You can't be results orientated. You played it fine, he just got lucky

Good point. My live games have been going well, on-line not so much, just getting down on the medium. Thx.

this is why you shouldnt slowplay

if you had shoved preflop he would have folded his T4, which is ideally what you want him to do when you have a one pair hand like aces
