Re: Can\'t color up to $100\'s, WTF?
This post is really funny to me because of my first big win at a poker table.
I was playing 1/2NL and every time I would get a good stack of red going, someone wanted to buy chips, and the dealer would ask me to sell them chips. I didn't mind so much in that I had a stack of bills to go with my stack of red, but I had never got to make big [censored] castles of chips before, and thats what I wanted to do. |

Re: Can\'t color up to $100\'s, WTF?
[ QUOTE ]
If you're building that big of a stack, somebody at the table is going to be constantly pulling out $100 bills. I just start selling them stacks and leave the $100s on the table under all of the remaining stacks. However, $100s play everywhere I've been playing lately. [/ QUOTE ] I wish! No, generally what happens is that they pull out a couple of tattered $20's, or a sheaf of smaller bills, and rebuy for the minimum that they can get away with. Some players will reload back up to $100 but they're generally not the ones who are busting all the time. But, cash isn't allowed on the tables in San Jose, as somebody else pointed out. |

Re: Can\'t color up to $100\'s, WTF?
When you buy into a limit game with 2 racks, having 400-500 chips in front of you is commonplace, at least for me. I love huge piles of chips, and only color up to $500 chips to avoid the taxman ($3000+ cashouts are tracked at Casino AZ). I am thinking of buying in for 2 racks, and then randomly adding a rack or two during my session so I can build my largest stack ever, but most of my old records were at the 8/16 game where I bought in for a rack and was up 6 racks (7 total) at one point. Chip towers are fun, especially when you can spot your seat from across the room.

Re: Can\'t color up to $100\'s, WTF?
[ QUOTE ]
In LHE at stakes from 2-4 to 30 and some 60 games, when you are up big and building mother [censored] ing castles, two things will happen; players will give you alot of action or they will be afraid to play against you. Figure out who is doing what and you own the game even more than you already do. You MIGHT run into one player who will still be playing optimally against you, not likely though. Bottom line is most people will be making more mistakes than they normally would. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I used to color up constantly (keeping a working stack available) but after reading something along these lines here I realized what a mistake it was. When you have a huge stack in front of you people are far, far less likely to bluff or play back at you. |
