Hey 2p2 board,
I saw Gus Hansen talked about Preflop No#. Like A = 13 K = 12 J = 11 T = 10 9 = 9 He means if you want tp play with cards in the MP you need at least cards high as 21. Early about 25 and later much lower No. This is already an open range not calling limpers or a raise infront of you preflop. What do you think about that strategy ? I think it is really good for the case to determine what range your opponent might have. Is someone trying this concept ? ty |

Yeah, I'm sure Gus folds 99 and TT in EP.

That was only an advice for beginners. But I think it is although good for Advanced players. If you set the number per postion a little lower, you can see easily that you play more hands and are able to observe better the startinghand requirements of each player at the table...
You can give him after several rounds Numbers. for me it is very difficult to observe these requirements of others at the table. today I will try it at my live game and I will see how much i can profitate with that counting... |

Telling a beginner to fold TT,99 in EP is terrible advice.

A beginner can easily find someone better to emulate than Gus's Lag to Tag to WTF play style. Try learning by getting the basics down first from a TAGish player, then learn how and when you can break the rules.

This is the advice you give your novice poker-playing friend 2 minutes before the tournament starts. For any more serious or in-depth strategy, you're going to need something much more refined.

Is this for offsuit non-pairs?
Also, is this a special deck without queens? |

Is this something like the SAGE hand strength rating system? If so, you need to add a certain amount for a paired hand and also increase the weight of the high card.
For example, A = 15 in sage, so AA = (15 x 2) + 15 + 22 (since it is a pair). If you don't make modifications like this, you wind up with ridiculous conclusions, like AT (14 + 10) = KJ (13 + 11) or AK (14 + 13) > KK (13 + 13). |
