Ronin, ftw.
Also, the director of Ronin, John Frankenheimer, also directed the French Connection II. Another great chase scene (well, more of a chase movie), is The Sugarland Express, but it 's not as good as Bullitt or Ronin. Chase scenes built on CGI, like anything Matrix-like, don't count, sorry. |

The French Connection supposedly has the best chase sequence, but i was underwhelmed. Ronin's chase is far superior.
The Transporter 1 has a couple awesome chase scenes, too. Here is Ronin's. I think this is The Transporters unedited. Here Is The Bourne Identity's And Here is The French Connection chase. |

Think of The Crocodile Hunter, if you knew some of the animals were CGI. A whole lot of the coolness factor is that you're seeing something real. |

The majority of the Matrix entirely was CGI, not just the highway scene. I'm not here to diss on CGI -- when done well, it can look really good. When done poorly (um, anyone for 2 Fast 2 Furious?) it's so blatantly cheesy as to be laughable. But the reality is, anything CGI isn't really happening, so it's not a real chase at all. That doesn't mean it wasn't a decent scene in a movie (which it was), but no, it's not even a real car chase, so it can't even really be considered as one of the best car chase scenes. +1 on the original Gone in 60 Seconds, though. |

Blues Brothers FTW [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking of starting a thread, which was movie scenes which you need to stick around and watch if you switch to the movie on TV and this would have been my initial contribution. Assuming we are talking about the first scene through the mall and not the end. |

I hear that "The French Connection" is best all time, (coicidence that Ronin is filmed in France?) and one of first two Bourne movies has an excellent one.
The French Connection car chase scene took place in Brooklyn/Queens. I grew up where they filmed the car chase scene. Ridgewood Queens New York. |
