Hmmm, you have a set. Well, I have an overpair, I call.
I was playing at the Borgata on Saturday night, and at one point couldn't help but notice a guy absolutely berating another player like I have never seen at a nearby 2-5NL table. I didn't think too much of it at the time.
A couple hours later, someone at my table was whining about a bad beat, and the dealer says, "Sir, you have no idea what a bad beat is." Then he told the story of the hand where that guy was freaking out. On a 10 high flop, someone bet into this apparently under rolled guy, who was holding pocket 10's for top set. This guy overbet pushes allin for 1K more, and then first tells the villian that he has top set, before flipping over his cards and showing the guy his pocket 10's. The villian mulls it over for a bit, claims something to the effect of, "You are going to think I am nuts, but I have a feeling about this hand..." before calling with QQ and spiking a Q on the river. |

How is this a really bad beat? [/ QUOTE ] What's your definition of a bad beat then. A 2outer when you opponent knows full well thats all he is drawing to is a bad beat to me. |

Re: Hmmm, you have a set. Well, I have an overpair, I call.
o yea.....this story happened when the borg poker room was still at the place where you took the escalator down to it, right near that club mix or whatever....I played NL back then but was in the proccess of switching to high limit so it was at the "high limit" section where all the tables were really close to each other. there was some commotion and i folded my hand out of turn and walked over to watch.
some 5-10 regular was taking a shot at the big game and had about 14k in front of him, which he later said was the most amount of cash he had ever had in front of him. This really aggressive millionaire regular (not the old guy with classes, this guy was the skinny jewish businessman who never combs his hari) raised and reraised the kid takin a shot. The kid goes all in and then flashes the businessman his cards. After like 3 mins he says he calls and the kid is like wtf man. Kid has AA and the jewish guy has KK and of course turns his set. Thats pretty sick cause it was for a decent amount of cash for the kid. He took it like a real gentleman to. Stood up, shook a few hands and just walked away with not one temper tantrum. |
