Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
Celtics Blazers thoughts
Gerald Green has this swagger that I have never seen before. He knows he's the best scorer on the floor at all times, it's awesome. Oden had a monstrous offensive rebound, then slammed home a dunk "and 1." He's good. Aldridge is definitely very very legit. But we knew that. I love the range on the shot. Rondo is still my mancrush. |

Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
My thoughts on Blazers/Celtics from watching online.
It was very disappointing as a Portland fan, but then it's summer league so I guess we shouldn't read into things too much. Aldridge was a beast. Offense and defense. He's going to be very very good for a long time. Sergio was lost out there. Martell was weak until the end. Where was he in the first 3.5 quarters? We have no one who can create their own shot. I love how a couple of times a Celtic would pump fake Aldridge or Oden and then go to the basket only to find Oden or Aldridge still waiting for them. I liked Taurean Green. The Celtics played great defense. That's a great sign for their future. Green dominated Martell. Powe finally showed up like the beast I remembered from Cal. Davis is a bit raw, he'll be more of a project. If Green can step up and be a creator, the Celtics' future will be much much brighter. |

Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
Over-reactionary comments from one summer league game:
Rondo and Green are the only long-term NBA players on this Celtic team. Rondo is, like, the absolute perfect point guard for Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Al Jefferson. Green is going to be instant O off the bench. Powe was nice, but is still not an NBA rotation player IMO. These commentators for summer league were the best commentators I have ever heard in my life for any sport. This is not an exaggeration. I <3 Mike Smith. Apparently he played for BYU and the Celtics, like my boy Ainge. |

Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
just got back from POR-BOS
-Taurean Green looked pretty good, just showed up in good spots a lot. -Like everyone says, Aldridge was pwning and looking awesome. -Oden was called for the worst foul I've seen in ages, basically the guy tripped over his own feet near oden and the foul was called. That said he didn't look great. I could tell he's going to be awesome and he had flashes of brilliance but outside of those he looked nervous or awkward or just generally unpolished. -We saw two different Martell Websters somehow. The last 5 minutes where he was awesome, and the first 35 where he was mediocre. -Some tall white guy had a few pretty sweet offensive rebounds and blocked shots for the blazers. |

A lot of snap judgments off the smallest and most irrelevant of sample sizes.

Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
Quickly:
Rodriguez really was disappointing. Totally handcuffed. Aldridge was great and Oden clearly will be fine. Martell Webster has regressed since last year, which is hard to believe considering how awful he was last year. His entire offensive game is coming off picks and jacking bad shots and his D is nonexistant. Aldridge has gained some weight since last year and looks much better. Rondo looks good. Green also has addes some muscle, but really didn't impress me much, esp considering that Webster was on him. Looks more and more like a one-dimensional, but very very useful bench guy to me. Boston had some guy named Wallace jumping out of the gym who made several nice plays. Big Baby was far more athletic than one would expect, but he is undersized height-wise and will need to learn how to play in the NBA given this limitation. Will be a good bench player in the NBA eventually. Powe didn't do much for me. |

Re: 2007 NBA Summer League Discussion
Whats with the box scores from these games having guys with 10 fouls on the game, etc? Is there no foul out in summer league or are these just massively screwed up?
