Re: Avg. Salary of Wharton Grad debate
do I believe that graduating from a top-tier school is a huge advantage? yes, of course...
will i really be disappointed if i don't make 100k my first year out? no, obviously not. ultimately, success is a function of hard work... going to a place like mit or wharton is merely a head start. |

lol i promise my g/f is hotter than yours, and there are posters here who can confirm ... and second, since you're so knowledgeable on the subject, tell me how much a 1st year trader on the goldman commodities desk makes after bonus? [/ QUOTE ] Dude you have a girlfriend in university. You are choosing to limit yourself to one girl at the time in your life when it is easiest for you to get new pussy regularly, that pretty much says it all. Unless that part was tongue in cheek too? |

Re: Avg. Salary of Wharton Grad debate
As someone who just graduated from Wharton (2007) and has many friends in these fields, this is what is going on today:
At i-banks: Starting Salary: 60k Signing Bonus: 10k End of Year Performance Bonus: Recent bonuses were between 80-100k. I assume it will stay around the same/increase slightly over the next year depending on the economy. Consulting: 50-55k (depending on the firm) Signing Bonus: 5k-10k (depending on the firm) End of Year Performance Bonus: I have much less knowledge about this number than any of the others, but I believe it would not exceed 20k. |

[/ QUOTE ] Pretty accurate, although Goldman paid out record bonuses and I have not heard of any I-Banking analysts with 100k bonuses. Most people I know who started work a week ago at major NYC I-banks recieved: Base: $65k Signing Bonus: $15k Bonuses: Expected btw. 80-120% of base. Everyone ends up over $100k, but no one makes over $150k. This was the standard this year as all banks must keep pay even as they compete for applicants. |

Re: Avg. Salary of Wharton Grad debate
Signing bonus doesn't count as part of that, b/c it is a one time thing that gets people moved in.
You may know more than me, j/w if it was I-Banking making bigger bonuses and if so which banks and desks? I have heard the Energy Desk of JP Morgan in Houston had huge bonuses last year, but that is not NYC. |
