Re: a relatively basic question regarding the main event
I suppose if I were totally backed, I'd be fine with 25-30%, if it's my first time in the ME or a $10k WPT (which it surely would be). If I were bankrolled to play at that level, I probably wouldn't accept full backing, and I wouldn't buy myself in unless I were probably bankrolled. So it stands to reason I'd give a back a huge premium just for the opportunity to play an event at that level.
If I were confident enough in someone's abilities to fully back them in a one shot? I'd probably offer them 30-40%. I have to figure, if I'm confident enough in you to fully stake you, I'd have to be pretty damn confident that you'd pay dividends on my investment, and it's worth more to me to have a reasonably sure thing. (That is, as reasonably sure as poker allows, which ain't much.) Anyway, good thread -- interesting questions. |

Re: a relatively basic question regarding the main event
[ QUOTE ]
A lot of variables here (like who he is/what $10K is to me/him, etc.) I'd offer him a sliding scale designed to encourage him playing correctly, something like 10% of first half-million and 40% of every thing above that. I'd play it for a deal like that, too, or 20% flat. [/ QUOTE ] The sliding scale thing seems like a good idea...more so for large tourneys with great potential pay out |
