Re: $1000 Tip
I guess almost off topic by now but this was a million dollar pot from the other night (sounds like a really juicy game btw) and maybe the pot you heard about. Nothing about any tip though.
From Gus: It's not everyday there is more than 1 million dollars in a pot inside Bobby's Room but the other night wasn't exactly a normal night either. Guy Laliberté (the owner of Cirque Du Soleil) was in town and when Sammy Farha, Lyle Berman (co owner of among other things the WPT), Bobby Baldwin (director of half the casinos on The Strip), Minh Ly, Ralp Perry and David Benyamine all at once were ready to put their money on the table, I too was ready to get some redemption following the HORSE event. The game was mostly 4000 8000 mixed and it would prove to be a long and eventful evening. Eventhough I lost a number of big pots in the end (a 3 outer on the river for 330.000) KK vs A-T (we ran it twice and I managed to lose both!) it ended up being a very good session for me. So eventhough the tournaments haven't been as good as they could have been, I've been doing well both online and in the Big Game. Fast forward to the big hand: We're playing plo. Usually we play with a 150.000 cap for each player but with the straddle on the cap rises to 250.000 so suddenly it's not that far up to the million. Lyle limps, Sammy raises, Ralph calls and I'm staring at KK76 spades. Normaly a hand I would reraise Sammy with but with both Guy and Lyle in there I decide to play it soft. I call. Guy calls and now suddenly Lyle wakes up and pot raises to 120.000. Sammy calls, Ralph calls and now I'm sitting there... It's 100 percent certain that Lyle has aces and unless Sammy and Ralph have completely lost their minds they do not have an ace in their hand when they're calling his raise. They could on the other hand very well have one of my kings so right now my kings do not look that good anymore so after taking my time to think about it, I fold which would prove to be a good decision. Guy now chooses to cap it and everyone pays. There is now more than one million in the pot. Showdown: Lyle: As Ah Kc Js Sammy: Td Th 6c 6d Ralph: 9d 9h 8c 7h Guy: Kh Qd Ts Tc Now it is rare that you see the aces that much in front. If you count my hand the percentages are these: Lyle: 50,7% in a 4-way!!! Sammy: 12,6% Ralph: 29,8% Guy: 6,9% Flop comes: Ad 6h 7s Lyle: 69,2% Sammy: 4,9% Ralph: 23,9% Guy: 2,0% Turn: Jd Lyle: 60,7% Sammy: 17,9% Ralph: 10,7% Guy: 10,7 % On the river they run it twice and Lyle hits the final ace and an off suit 3 and collects a really big pot. |

Re: $1000 Tip
[ QUOTE ]
I tipped a dealer a couple of years ago $10,000. I won a BBJ for $90,000. However, the only reason I did that was because I knew her and knew that she could really use the money. I tipped the floorman $100. I still don't think he has forgiven me for that. He thinks I hate him for some reason because of how much I gave the dealer. [/ QUOTE ] I would have tipped her $400, and would have donated the 9,600 to charity. starving children>>dealer |
