Playing Razz Tourneys
Online Razz tourneys especially low buyin ones often involve players with a propensity to overcommit early to hands. This is shown most powerfully in 3 and 4 bet 3rd street. My question is given chips are at a premium should someone fold a hand like this one once he sees that two bigger players are going at it?
Tournament - Razz (80/160), Ante 16, Bring-In 24 (converter) Hero: 1,176 Seat 2: 2,669 Seat 3: 2,661 Seat 4: 1,739 Seat 5: 2,838 Seat 6: 683 Seat 7: 2,497 Seat 8: 2,805 3rd Street - (1.60 SB) Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls___calls___calls Seat 2: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___raises___raises Seat 3: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Seat 4: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Seat 5: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___folds Seat 6: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___folds Seat 7: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___brings-in___folds Seat 8: xx xx 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___raises___raises___calls |

Re: Playing Razz Tourneys
with 7ish big bets in your stack, you aren't really desperate or anything, but you should be cautious about overcommitting to a hand when your draws might not be that good. just play it like you would any other hand, and take advantage of the mistakes others tend to make, and maybe on 4th/5th be a little more likely to fold a draw to the worst hand rather than follow it all the way to showdown.
as played, i think i'd do the same. 6's are in short supply, but those arent really the outs you're looking for anyhow, and A/2/4/8 are still in good shape. If you catch good and seat 2 catches bad on 4th, be ready to go to war. If you catch worse than he does, be ready to let it go (I mean, see 5th for one more bet, but don't chase it all the way if you could be drawing to the worst hand) |
