Sorry about your Dad. We find ourselves in a similar situation with my FIL.
I suggest you make a visit out there now, meet with his doctors and get an understanding of his treatment plan and prognosis. Ask a lot of questions about support mechanisms they have in place, (visiting nurses, medical transportation, etc.) From there, you, your Dad, and your sister should be able to get a better idea of what your options are now and in the future. Hospice is a good option, though normally reserved for the last six months of life. After you get a better understanding of his porgnosis and get a plan in place for his day to day care, you'll have a better idea of how often you'll need to be traveling there. |
